A small piece of parkland at the corner of Drouillard Road and Whelpton Street is on the agenda at Windsor City Council on June 29, 2026.
The City is proposing to declare approximately 1,807 square feet from the southwest corner of Whelpton Park surplus and sell it to the owner of 1009-1021 Drouillard Road. The owner, who recently received approval under the Ford City Community Improvement Plan Grant program, wants to incorporate the land into a rear courtyard as part of a planned four-unit commercial redevelopment.
Whelpton Park itself is not being sold -- only this small rear corner that directly abuts the private property. The rest of the park, including the sculpture and picnic table remains intact.
Outcome: City council voted in favour to sell it to an adjacent property owner.
